Might actually be cheaper now what with the high price of food.

As for regulating heat, I would think the briquette has the advantage, its uniformity having similar burning tendencies?

Briquettes are charcoal dust pressed with fillers (clay) and binders (glue) and don't burn as hot or efficiently. They also produce more ash which makes it harder to regulate the heat on a long cook, reduced airflow.
