Hard to tell exactly what that is, might be brown patch.

Did you fertilize this spring or early summer? How big is the lawn?

What I would do is buy a scarifier to remove thatch, mow low as low as possible, scarify, then put down some Midnight Kentucky blue grass. Cover with peat moss, keep moist.

Yea, no more of that. Fall only. Labor Day, early October, quick release mid November. You might need to lime a bit more too. (Calcium carbonate lime)

Midnight KBG is older but does well in summer conditions. Lower priced and readily available. Great for an overseed. You can do around 1 pound per 1000.

So if you are going to overseed mid to late August is the time. You plant on the 15th and it wont germinate until September.
