I’ve been driving around town for awhile. Governor said 75% of power is out in this county and 82% out in county where I stayed last nite. I want to check my sister’s beach rental on Siesta Key but I’m thinking they’re probably not allowing anyone out there yet.

This is the only thing open that I’ve seen so far other than a coffee shop. This man is getting ready to make some money. Hope he has a lot of ingredients!

All is good. I went past my place and other than a window covering being bent, no damage. I even have power! Lots of damage and debris all around me tho. I think my neighbor’s place might be a total loss. My sister’s place is fine but no power. I’m going to go back to her place to stay. Thanks for asking.
Good to hear!

The guy next door to my sister had a massive live oak tree in his front yard. It was such a beautiful tree. Maybe 100-150 years old. This is what I saw when I drove down the street earlier. So sad. The city already sent out a 10 man crew who cut up the part blocking the road.

I glad to hear you caught a bit of good luck. You've been dealing with a lot because of this crazy weather.

I wonder if the tree was that old? How old is that development? A tree like that can grow big in 30 years down there.

They would typically clear the land and plant trees later. If there is a lake in the community, that was dug and the sand used to raise up the land.
No lake. They’re very protective of the large trees here. Especially the live oaks. You’re not allowed to cut down a tree over a certain diameter. Not sure about back then though.
