They originally moved them into temporary motels. Tried to get them help in various ways.
The camp on the riverbed is gone and they are spread out and some have extended stays in the motels. It is still a problem they are working on.

We also heard that in LA homeowners are able to build structures in their backyards to give them places to live. Not here in Orange County...

Not sure what the solution is, but it is a real problem.

My idea of building a huge ass barge and floating them out to sea didn't go over very well.

In all seriousness though, many need mental help, others are there for the drugs and off the grid lifestyle, and many should get off their asses and get a job.

Heroin addicts will use any syringe they can get. Giving them clean needles helps reduce HIV, hepatitis and other blood-borne diseases.
