I speak personally, for myself, no one else. He has however been despised for a lengthy period of time by conservatives. Once again, I will state, I am not a republican, however they run, for the most part, the only candidates I could possibly cast a vote for. I've never voted for McCain and never would. I wrote Ronald Reagan in. Once again I, speak for myself, can't speak for the others that couldn't vote for those jackasses. I have also noted that I didn't vote for Trump. Next time, absolutely I will. Blam! Bop! Bonk! Batman.

Conservatives aren't thrilled with him because one he didn't seem to even try against Obama in 2008, and two he singlehandedly quashed any chance of Obamacare repeal in 2017. And it appears he did that to spite Trump in retaliation for Trump dissing him about being captured. Some of his signature pieces of legislation like McCain/Feingold also suggest that he is more a RINO than a conservative.
