Let's say three drivers are wayyyyyy overdispatched. And a fourth is extra. They give the fourth driver a split from each guy, but to hide the fact that they are putting on a route, they give him three diads with the other guys names in each. (Smith-2, Jones-2, Regan-2). It keeps their Orion trace high as well. They pay the fourth guy as shuttle or safety code, and combine his diad back with the original drivers numbers so he becomes invisible. I've seen some serious issues such as driver follow ups and drivers getting "excessive" bonus when they recombine the numbers.
They send them out with 3 DIADS. It looks ridiculous.
The original post said one diad. That's why I asked.

We haven't heard anything about orion compliance for months.

Out of 325 routes here....

Only the trainee's try to run Orion.

LIB's everyday (irregs), with most being rolled over until the next day.

(sometimes 2 or 3 days)

But they will still push you to 90%.

Where's that in the contract ?

4 billion spent on it.

How do you come up with that number ?

UPS SPENT 4 BILLION ON ORION?!?!

I've heard the number is around 300 million.

4 billion ? Not a chance.

It's not a UPS product as you already know so the more customers buy it the cheaper it gets. The cost is in customized implementation.

It helps save miles for the rural coverage driver, sure. But the metro add cuts (presuming the DOL was correct from the Edd days) are still pocket dispatch here and the average dispatchers aren't area knowledge smart enough to make it intelligent in application.

No doubt about that.

The problem being.... with who they trusted to implement it.

You can only teach a monkey, so many tricks.

I want you as my steward or BA.
I am a champion for unions, a unionist, and someone who has always stood up to the bully. Even if the bully was going to kick my ass. I lick my wounds and come back with a different fight strategy or come back with bigger and badder friends. I have a twisted mentality formed in my youth. My father spent the bulk of my childhood in prison. The stories he told me I should have heard at a young age. Well I did, and these things shaped me. They made me into a unique individual, flawed, but just the right guy to have as your union guy. I don't want to equal the playing field. I want to run the table.

Thanks for your kind words brother.

That would get your manager sent home for the remainder of the week to think about his job.

A lazy employee will make it in management. They bail out of being a bargaining unit member to opt into management as soon as they can.
The next thing you know, they're a PDS. Great.

If being in management is efficiently parallel to being hourly then why do they need to code '02' in their diad (that automatically shows them as "scratch") when they have to drive and deliver for some reason?

So true.

Paying unqualified management people....

To implement a multi-million dollar technology investment, is bad business.

It's time to "pony up" and UPS take care of their core base. The workers.

Don't know if this has been answered yet but we get 2 - 15 min paid breaks and a 30 min lunch out west. Also the DIAD locks up during your 30 min lunch so you can't do anything.
I think that's an ingenious idea to lock out all the boards. From a guy who doesn't live in California I am an admirer of what you have there.

I think the Orion system was more in the 300 million price range.

It's actually quite fun to follow, if you have a good sense of humor.

We are the hated ones. The reason the stock isn't $200/share.

It's (not) funny how a lazy hourly that bails into management now judges the work that the drivers (that they couldn't even load their cars correctly as a part-time employee) do. With an attitude of disdain and arrogance they happily write up people who have more time on the toilet in their building than they've accrued their whole career.

This...perpetuates the hostility.

And you run your mouth about profanity? All the posts you put up about people having roosters in their mouth should have gotten you banned from this site.
