If he retires he'll need it. You aren't going to get as big a pension as your fellow government workers who put in fulltime hours and work their way into better paying positions. What your Swiss professor friend does has no impact on what I get or what you get. If you think working the bare minimum will get you a pension you can live on you will be in for a rude awakening. And then you can rail about how unfair the system is.

As youve confirmed, full time on SS is still unlivable

The propaganda term is its a supplement! Sounds french if you ask me

I have no earthly idea what you are saying. I suspect your Canadian version of Social Security won't be nearly as much as mine. And your government pension will be minimal. If I were you I'd start looking at what's needed to have a decent retirement.
