Every time a contract comes up I talk to guys about a "Vacation Fund" that matures when the contract is up. 5 people have done it in 11 years.............. What makes you so sure everyone will be prepared? Most people will be pumped to strike up until Momma realizes you got no money coming in and things change quick. You need to remember it's not 1997 and a strike needs to be well planned. Carey rolled the dice going on strike with little to no money in the strike fund and he won. That may not be the scenario next time and who wants to put Teamsters on the streets because of a dumb move. Strikes are an important part of leverage but always a last resort.

She merged because of issues facing most locals today including 952, declining membership making future viability almost impossible.

952 has been going through this for over 15 years going from almost 13,000 members in 2000 to less than 8500 after Kraft closes it's doors later this year.

We'll in the last 3 1/2 years my pension contributions have increased a whopping $.25, with nothing in my contract that guarantees any other increase to the pension fund.

Have to admit that getting raises (2.2%) that is less than cost of living (3.2%) is not what I would have hoped for.

And I am sure that those newer drivers really appreciate a 4 year wage progression to get to top rate, instead of 3 years which H gave away in the last contract, or 2 years wage progression which H gave away the contract before.

But hey, you're happy.
