Future Speculation

I bet if you asked most Americans, they would say they wish he was NEVER President. I know 52 hostages and their families wished he had stayed in Plains Ga. He took the Prime Interest rate to over 20%. I had family in the car business. You couldn't give a car away back then. People with 750 credit scores were still paying close to 18% on car loans. TOTAL failure on domestic policy. He had some success in foreign policy but Americans suffered big time under Carter.

His greatest moment as POTUS came when he told the general public that America needed to redefine its value system (both as a country and as individual citizens). This message, of course, came after he knew he would lose to Reagan - kind of funny how the candidates who know they don't stand a chance can tell the truth. The writing was on the wall; we were becoming a debtor nation, and the expectations of average citizens were getting out of control (the concept of the American dream seems to get bigger and bigger). Instead, Americans were duped into yet another slogan: "It's Morning in America." Nancy shows up in a $20,000 plus dress for the inauguration, and the national debt has increased ever since. Fast forward to 2027, and we are looking at 1.4 trillion annual budget deficits, and the public debt load is going to be 80 plus percent of GDP - not good for an economy dependent on consumer spending. When you couple that with the fact that SSA will be paying out at a 75 percent capacity shortly after, and the fact that approximately half of the US population doesn't save for retirement, it's a safe assumption that we're looking at a systemic disaster - happy early 4th everybody!

Actually I think it started with the president breaking with tradition and not showing his tax returns they even other republicans said he should. Then it was accentuated with the president's chummy relationship with Putin. Finally, his son almost bragged about Russian funding.

The latest example of "We think he might have done something at some point but we have no idea what, how, why, or when. But something."

When it finally comes out, you, @newfie, and @Monkey Butt can come back and explain how, "we'll Obama did it!"

When what finally comes out? You fools have been peddling a dozen different flavors of this Russia crap since the day after the election with nothing to show for it aside from the egg on your faces.

Trump's biggest problems are that he declared war on the media (except Fox News), can't control what he says, and Twitter. Trump keeps fanning the flames and the media runs with it. He creates the hunt with his mouth and tweets and calls the media Witches for looking into them. If he would keep his mouth shut, work to get legislation passed, and keep his Twitter thoughts like a normal President, the media would not have Witch Hunts.

Look at much of the media as if they are cats. Trump is sitting on the couch with a laser pointer and pointing it to the floor, then to the couch, then to the wall, then back to the floor, etc. and the cats are running all over the place. He knows he's fanning the flames. He's doing it on purpose. How many allegations have been levied at him at this point? A couple dozen or so? How many of them ever bore any fruit. None. y see, he's going to do all he can to accommodate them.

The reason for investigation between Trump and Russia is that Russia meddled in our election, this is a fact (maybe not in Fox News world, but the rest of the world knows it happened). Even Trump has now criticized how Obama handled it, so Trump must now realize they were involved.

According to Obama and everyone else, there was absolutely no issue whatsoever with the integrity of our election.

Trump praised Putin during the election, appointed individuals that did not disclose ties/meetings with Russian officials, praised WikiLeaks for disclosing leaked/stolen documents, and asked Russia to find Clinton's emails. No one knows his or his family's business connections with Russia. He fires the FBI director because of how he was handling the Russia investigation. There are a lot of unknowns between Trump's campaign and business and Russia.

There maybe something there with Trump's campaign and Russia and there may not be, but it must be investigated. I personally don't think they colluded, but Trump needs the investigation to get completed quickly and should do everything in his power to expedite it.

Since you're admitting that there aren't, even after 6 months of rabid investigation, any known reasons to suggest any collusion between Trump and Russia... what's the problem?

Oh, I don't know. The recent WSJ (not exactly a liberal rag) article regarding Peter Smith seems to suggest otherwise. Furthermore, when you hire TWO foreign agents to run your campaign, you should probably expect the worst when it comes to accusations.

But if you want to go there, Bush had 8 years to fix any problems Clinton may have started to prevent the crash that repubs like to blame on loosened banking regulations. In that case, Bush did have 8 years, and really did do nothing.

What was he supposed to do? It's not like Democrats (or anyone else for that matter) were clamoring for him to put the brakes on the real estate and financial industries in the middle of the housing boom. If you're a guy who makes good money from that stuff, are you going to ask someone to cool it off when it gets hot? If you're a poor person who gets a crappy loan, are you going to turn it down when it allows you to get the house you want? If you'e a middle class guy who has an opportunity to refi and cash out the equity and pay off other debt, isn't that desirable? If you're some guy who watches Flip the House all the time and you think you can do it just like they do, don't you want the cheap, easy money that allows you to play real estate tycoon?

No one wanted anything to change because there was a perceived benefit to just about everyone. Never mind that no one saw it coming that soon and that harshly.

The Russians attacked our election and Trump is doing nothing, that's a problem.

So what is the proper response to this ridiculously vague and undefined attempt to influence an election? Considering you don't know what they did, how they did it, or that it had any effect whatsoever...

How long did the Whitewater investigation go on? Where did it start and where did it end? Six months is nothing.

He could acknowledge that it happened. It was a large scale advisarial state sponsored physiological warfare attack. We know they used thousands of fake social media accounts to directly target voters in swing districts. They used fake news to influence votes, actual fake news as in fake newspaper websites with fake stories. They put out fake information through their RT news outlet that was then reinforced and repeated by the Trump campaign.

Imagine a state paying people to spread misinformation and propaganda like you do for FedEx, but on a much larger scale.

The Starr report took at least 9 months to complete, and the current investigation is way more complicated (and serious) than the POTUS using some intern as a cigar receptacle.

The main questions going forward is what will Robert Mueller be able to uncover and verify? Who will it implicate? How damning is the evidence? How will the country react ? How will it impact the well being of the nation? Are Robert Mueller and Michael Flynn the Archibald Cox and John Dean of the new millennium? Are there people in the House and Senate willing to set aside their worries about getting reelected and do their duty if it is required. And perhaps the biggest question of all is if the investigation uncovers incontrovertible evidence that the Trump organization has direct ties to Russian involvement in the election as well as illegal business activity will they take the same approach Nixon took and like Nixon learn the hard way that the more you try to stonewall the worst it's going to get for you? Only time will tell.

Advisarial=Adversarial Physiological=psychological.

Assuming "they" are the Russians???

Trump has been screaming from early on about "fake news". Weren't you listening?

It's called auto correct. I'm not assuming it's the Russians, our intelligence agencies are telling us it was the Russians.
Trump has been saying all negative coverage of him is fake news. He's not talking about things like the "Denver Tribune" writing stories about Hillary murdering people.

Six months ago, it was "Trump obviously conspired with Russia to change the outcome of properly cast votes." Looking at what has been uncovered up to this point, in another six months they might actually uncover that he once purchased a bottle of Russian dressing at the supermarket.

So we've gone from "Trump had a direct hand in colluding with Russia" to "The Russians put some stuff on Facebook." LOL!!!!!

Propaganda is real and has real effects. There's a reason why it's used. Using it with pinpoint targets of susceptible voters is new and dangerous to democracy.

Whitewater began as a land deal investigation and ended with a stained blue dress years later. That's how these things go.

So you are asserting the Wall Street Journal piece with Peter Smith's statement "I was recruited to collude with the Russians" has no merit. On its own that statement isn't earth shaking; however, Mr. Smith had a "working relationship" with Flynn's consulting firm when looking to groom new "assets." This just can't be ignored considering Trump openly admitted he fired Coney, at least in part, due to his continued investigation of Flynn. Even if all of this does turn out to be "fake news," which I doubt, Mr. Trump is to blame as brought all of this on himself. Common sense would suggest that hiring foreign agents to run your campaign could lead to trouble, but I guess the whole "fake news" bit is enough of an explanation for Trump's base.
