Most of the court clerk’s employees who are under investigation had gotten PPP loans of about $20,000 by saying they had made at least $100,000 from an outside business in the year before they filed their applications, Murphy-Aguilú said. Some employees received about $40,000 in loans, he said.
“Many of the employees who work for us don’t earn $100,000 a year,” Murphy-Aguilú said. “To say you make more cutting hair than working here does not make a lot of sense.”

According to a report released by Chicago Public Schools’ Office of the Inspector General, the 2021-2022 school year saw 772 investigations into teachers for allegedly raping, sexually assaulting, or grooming students.

The office was able to close 600 “adult on student” cases in the past year, and substantiated more than half of the allegations. Despite that, only 16 of the cases have resulted in charges.

As Breitbart News reported, the Biden administration attempted to end the Trump-era reporting requirements for teachers who sexually assault students. Such a proposal would have seen only the 16 allegations with criminal charges included in national numbers, not the full 772.

Taking on crime isn't her only concern.
WTTW News reported that some Chicago Public Schools teachers on Wednesday received an email from Lightfoot’s campaign that read in part: “We’re simply looking for enthusiastic, curious and hard-working young people eager to help Mayor Lightfoot win this spring.”

In the email, the campaign proposed an “externship program” in which students would be expected to put in 12 hours a week helping the campaign and potentially earning “class credit.”
