Hazzard pay

Because giving us more money is going to make us safer. Idiots.
In a way.....Yes. People have mortgages, people have families, finances are largely already accounted for. UPS doesn't want the fall-out of drivers out working 12-hour days, so many routes are being cut down to size, resulting in a loss of overtime for some drivers.

Do you want drivers to get more sleep, have less stress, be able to afford vitamins and supplements and masks/gloves/air purifiers/etc etc? Then give them a higher salary while at the same time, making it very clear that they are expecting us to "do our part" to sleep more, cut back on smoking/alcohol, try to eat healthier, etc. It would, of course, be unenforceable but it would still show they're at least trying to do their part.

...or you can budget based on 40 and the rest would be gravy...

The union negotiated your pay.
Right now the union needs to do everything it can to stop layoffs. Demanding more pay does the opposite of that.
No it doesn't. UPS was already making BILLIONS (with a B) in profit last year. They routinely brag about the fact they raise the Stock Dividend every year. Why do people always like to forget that the top tax rate went from 35% to 21%? It was an absolute windfall that cost them nothing. And if we get a payroll tax holiday, or even steeper corporate tax cuts, they'll have even more money to throw around.

UPS can afford to do something like give all drivers a $2/hour hazard pay increase (and the same or more for PT'ers), given that they already charge an extra $1 for Residential packages and right now, that volume is spiking. If Amazon employees/drivers start staging walk-outs at their facilities, mostly located near dense city centers, that leaves plenty of room for UPS to swoop in and grab up all that volume. As Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc, gain steam, it will bid up the price for non-UPS/FedEx delivery drivers, resulting in price increases for Amazon on the like and making it harder for them to compete with us.

There's nothing but growth on the horizon for UPS. Anyone implying otherwise just isn't paying attention. As LeBron says, they wasn't educated.

Settle down Bernie Bro, you don't seem to understand how capitalism works.

We're in a worldwide recession that could very well turn into a depression. You're being ridiculous.

And yet I'm the one out here throwing out facts and figures, and typing in complete paragraphs (you know, like an adult would do) - and people like you just mock and ridicule, without actually offering any explanations or convincing arguments.

Nothing I say has anything to do with Bernie bros. I'm HAPPY the corporations got a tax cut. Any implication otherwise was invented, whole cloth, by YOU and YOU alone. What I am arguing is that UPS has plenty of resources to give their drivers a raise, and really rub it in the faces of other companies' drivers how POORLY they are being paid and treated by the likes of Amazon.

UPS is largely recession-proof, lad. Companies are moving more and more TOWARDS B2C shipping, people are having stuff ordered to their front door now more than ever. That will only INCREASE if people stop being able to afford cars, stop commuting 2 hours for a job, and so on. Less people will be going to THE MALL to buy stupid crap, and will instead take advantage of stores like Macys.com which offer free shipping AND free return shipping.

You haven't seen anything like a bottom yet. You are just parroting MSM talking points because you don't know any better.
