While health insurance isn't required by state law, federal law requires employers with 50 or more full-time equivalent employees (FTEs) to provide health insurance benefits with minimum essential coverage (MEC). Wait a couple more quarters and we'll see how the service numbers look as a result of all this cost cutting. Definitely not a good time to be a Ground contractor. They don't have any money

We've often heard the catch phrase "legacy costs" and the need for employers to divest themselves of those burdensome and unjust "legacy costs" . By the sound of things FDX retirees who don't know what "legacy costs" are might just be in for a painful education.Ok ,he called back and said it’s retiree insurance but still have not seen anything official
The Affordable Care Act to the rescue. Just think of the growth in the supply of experienced Express delivery people available to Ground contractors. People who will have to come out of retirement to earn the money needed to buy their own health insurance while counting off the days until they can enroll in Medicare.Health insurance for retirees are gong away. Not COBRA or RHPA. This is the insurance policy you can purchase through FedEx. I understand they're stopping it because of low enrollment. They want ~$1300/mo for me alone. Yes, it's reimbursable, but, damn

Important Announcement about Your FedEx Retiree Health Benefits
The FedEx Corporation Retiree Group Health Plan (Plan) has seen year-over-year declines in participant enrollment, indicating that more FedEx retirees are choosing to find health care coverage elsewhere. Due to this continual decrease in participation rates, the FedEx Corporation Retiree Group Health Plan will close effective January 1, 2024. There will be no change to the FedEx Retiree Health Reimbursement Arrangement, featuring the Retiree Health Premium Account (RHPA).
What does this mean for you?
- You keep your RHPA! As an eligible retiree, you (and, if applicable, your eligible Spouse) will continue to have access to the balance of your RHPA(s). Keep in mind, the RHPA can be used to reimburse (up to the amount in the account) eligible premiums for a wide range of health plans, including unsubsidized coverage you purchase on the federal Health Insurance Marketplace at healthcare.gov or state exchanges, coverage you purchase from an insurance broker or insurance company, other employer coverage purchased with after-tax dollars, and Medicare premiums.
- FedEx medical, dental, and vision coverage will end at midnight on December 31, 2023. Our records indicate that you (and, if applicable, your eligible dependents) are not enrolled in medical, dental, or vision coverage through the FedEx Corporation Retiree Group Health Plan currently, so this should have little to no effect on you.
- Access to the Medical Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) associated with the FedEx retiree medical plan options will also end at midnight on December 31, 2023. Since our records indicate that you (and, if applicable, your eligible dependents) are not enrolled in a FedEx medical plan option, this should have no effect on you.
- You will no longer receive annual enrollment communications from FedEx.
That’s what they love to hear! This post is about some rumor. But benefits season is approaching. We’ll soon see how benefits might actually change. It might mean a $5,000 deductible, but hey, I have health insurance.
It's not a rumor, but it's also not for current employees. Read post #11This post is about some rumor. But benefits season is approaching. We’ll soon see how benefits might actually change. It might mean a $5,000 deductible, but hey, I have health insurance.
