Why should taxpayers be on the hook for illegal immigrates who fail to come into the country legally. How much money have illegals got from taxpayers?
You've got to get with the program. In @bottomups world paying $225 million for losses in an area that had never seen such flooding is much, much worse than paying tens of billions a year to support people who shouldn't be here, including rapists and murderers whose backgrounds weren't checked.

We produce more corn and soybeans than the market wants. Billions of bushels in storage. Just keep subsidizing them farmers to keep increasing yields.
Western North Carolina isn't big time corn and soybeans country. And we put crops in storage because in some years the weather devastates the current crop not only here but also in South America. Meanwhile some countries like China depend on us to meet their needs.

Fentanyl addicts don't have freedom.
They are slaves to their addiction.
While that may be true, that can be a very slippery slope

One thing I hate about liberal policies is “sin tax”.

New York banning big gulps pisses me off. Higher tax on sugar pisses me off. Should the government be banning junk food since heart disease is the #1 killer in America?

Should we ban alcohol and cigarettes?

I say no, we should instead let adults choose what they want to do with their own bodies, but give them the education and resources to make the right decisions and to help them if they need and want it

The mayor proposed it years back but luckily the courts shut it down.

But I’m always seeing comments online saying the governments need to tax sugar and “junk foods”’more because of obesity and heart disease it just annoys me

Australia put a crazy high tax on cigarettes and I’ve read it just created a big black market on cigarettes

I don’t fully understand how it’s gonna change anyone’s habits by charging an extra few pennies. If you’re not working and getting everything handed to you why would you care? Stuff is so messed up it’s crazy.

I probably couldn’t even drink a full gulp now. Come to think about it I probably wouldn’t want to.

It affects the lower working class the most.

I lived in a city that put a high tax on cigars. What did I do when I wanted a cigar on the weekend? Picked some up in a different city when I was there. Not as easy to do for someone without a car.

Maybe I’m wrong when it comes to cigarette tax though. Wouldn’t be the first time I’m wrong. I have read it does reduce the amount of people smoking, and that’s a good thing overall, for people’s health and the environment

I stand firmly against the sugar tax though. And plus, a guy who wants a big gulp would instead just get two medium cups most likely, and now we’re increasing single use plastic which is terrible for the environment

It’s a point where liberals go too far in trying to babysit the population. The right is just as bad for other things though, the fact they’re still mostly not on board legalizing marijuana, it’s just silly, but they’re slowly getting there too

Hang in there. Don’t let it get the best of you. It’s a crazy world out there.

I'm not going to take anyone seriously who compares fentanyl to sugary drinks.

What about weed? You on board with that yet now that Trump is signaling support for it?

The majority of Americans want it legalized, as you like to point out for other issues
I don’t have a problem with people smoking weed, but everywhere it’s legal. They are completely rude about it. You can’t walk down the street or even drive in your car without it smelling like a raccoons burnt ass.
