Hi gang....new here and a question.

Hi everyone. My name is Jack and I've been with UPS in Atlanta for a little over 5 years. I've been a cover driver for 2 1/2 years. I've read the board off and on for a year or so and then decided to join the community. Seems like everyone here has the same complaints that me and my co-workers at P-dale have. Enjoy the job, hard work, stressful, bosses with no common sense, etc. Good to know that we're all in the same mess together I guess. Anyway, I do have a question. All cover drivers are required to work the Friday after Thanksgiving here. We will be delivering NDA an 2DA only of course. Our center manager has told us that we will be getting paid air rate only at double time plus our regular holiday pay at cover driver rate. Is that right? I swear in the past that I was paid cover driver rate at double time for the Friday "holiday". Anyone know the union's stance on this in regard to part-time cover drivers? I know that full timers get full time rate (as they should as they are NOT air drivers ever) but the cover driver thing always gets sups confused and mumbling incoherantly.

In Jersey air drivers do NOT get 2x. They are paid for the holiday and straight for hours worked with a 3 1/2 guarantee.Sick call anyone???

Here it's straight time plus holiday for air drivers, regular drivers get double time plus holiday.

I'm a bid air driver, but am full-time for the season. They told me I had to work, so I wonder how I'm gonna get paid?

It is stupid to make all the part-timers work if enough full-timers have signed the bid sheet to work. Our bid sheet for friday had more than enough signatures but all the part-time drivers still have to work. What's the point?

It's all about the money, they dont have to pay the part timers as much

They are required to put up a bid sheet for the day.
Route drivers, get 2x pay(for coming in on a required day) + holiday
But if you sign the sheet, according to the contract its only 1.5 or regular time.
If they "force" you to work, its double time.

As for the air drivers... you got me.. I would assume you would be normally
schedualed off on that day, so you are still being "forced" to work thus entitling you to 2x pay.
