I think the overwhelming majority would not follow orders to attack our own. Doesn't matter what personal political beliefs an individual soldier holds. Their oath to the Constitution and the people of the US is above those beliefs and an unlawful order to attack citizens.

In the military, one of the General Orders is to "follow all lawful orders." Also, if I remember correctly, the POTUS is the Commander in Chief of the military.
If a service member refuses to follow an order that he believes to be unlawful, he's going to be court martialed. That service member better be sure and/or courageous enough to believe that a Military judge will also agree that the order is unlawful. Because that can very easily turn into a one-way ticket to Leavenworth.
Do you think that is a risk that a young, low ranking, barely literate economically disadvantaged enlisted grunt from the backwoods or the ghetto is willing to take? Keep in mind that exact demographic is the majority of what the military is composed of.
