Well if you sign the bid and your the highest seniority to bid the position. They would first need to have you take a DOT physical and pass, pass a back ground / driving record check and then you would need to get sent to driving school and successfully pass driving school. That could happen in a week or two or a couple of months down the road.

Depends on the type of bid. Newly created position? Vacated due to retiring or termination? Temporary from an injury for more than 45 days?

I would say retiring. But there are a lot of other positions like vcd.
