Inspect taken out of DIAD

Today's PCM...Inspect was taken out as an option for damaged packages. Use Not in 1 as option, in remark field type Damaged. Really?????

We did the training in the diad and there was a UPS made instructional sheet on the bulletin board that said to sheet damages as missed and then bring them back in for inspection. We were then immediately told to not sheet anything missed because of damage. huh?

Is highly suggest getting with your BA as conflicting instructions are being given and to file a grievance for over supervison. Now this isn't some frivolous grievance, it just forces them to make a stand on paper as to which instruction they want. This will also force your center manager to admit that he can't over ride corporate policy.

Or it's to make sure it is actually damaged before the customer sees that when they track their package?? Some stuff may sound damaged and be perfectly fine. Maybe it's because too much stuff was being sheeted improperly?

Yeah dude that wine or piss leaking out of the bag/box really needs to be taken to the customer. Clearly.

Pretty sure the policy came about for other reasons than a leaker. 99.99% of the time it's for something that "sounds" broken though it's actually just fine. Hence the new process. Rather than planting a seed that in a customers head that his stuff is damaged, they'd rather make sure.

Pretty sure the policy is exactly what it should be. You attempt the delivery, if the outer package is clearly damaged it's missed damaged. Not refused didn't want, not N1 or nsn or whatever other nonsense management wants to hide it as. There is literally 0 reason for an on car to send you a conflicting instruction, it's clear cut dishonesty.

You'd have to be an idiot or born yesterday to think why you're suggesting, maybe both. The earth is flat too right?

Or people see a dent on the corner of a package and sheet as damaged. But that wouldn't happen because every union person at UPS is so honest.

If it was so easy as black and white this wouldn't be a policy, but it's quite evident that people all throughout the company have found grey areas to justify their decisions, whether good or bad.

A long time ago in a package center far, far, away we were instructed to never deliver a package that we had any question on. We would rather have the clerk take a look than knowingly deliver a damaged parcel. Now some cubicle dwelling minion in Atlanta has deemed that we are too dumb make that decision. I am so glad I am playing the back nine.
