You can use the drivers side door as long as your numbers look good. However, if you get hurt, than it will be your fault. Bottom line, ups talks out of both sided of their mouth.

Really? I was taught that it was part of the methods. Using the the driver side door is taught (and mandated) at Integrad, and my sup made a remark about how I was using it during my first 3 days, but other drivers didn't...and how he was "such s nice guy" because he could discipline them, but he doesn't.
If my delivery needs got the side door I set it on a driver's seat and exit through the passenger door, Walk around the truck and grab the package and make the delivery
