Keeping Control

Have a source since I didn't know about this and would like to read more about it?

I tried googling "Cuba thousand short range nuclear tipped rockets".
I watched an interview with Robert McNamara before he died when he talked about how 30 years later after the fall of the Soviet Union it was discovered that the Russians had suppled the Cubans with according to reports a thousand short range nuclear tipped rockets. Needed to say military planners were shocked at the discovery.

Another thing they were shocked to discover and it was something they had never thought about. Russian military plans called for a nuclear strike on key US military and governmental facilities ahead of an armored invasion of Western Europe. One target nobody in the Pentagon gave a moment's thought to.....The Altoona Curve in Pennsylvania . Without the kind of air lift capability you have today a sizeable majority of US heavy armor going to the East Coast for shipment to Europe would be going by rail through the Curve making it among the first places to go bye bye.... When the Pentagon found out about it...it was "holy feces".

Needless to say....you might THINK you know what your adversaries next move will be....trouble is...you don't always KNOW what his next move will be.

It was well known back in the day that McNamara wasn't the brightest bulb in Camelot.
B.A. from Cal Berkley and an M.B.A. from Harvard . Not too bright huh? The problem with McNamara was the he was an logistics obsessed number cruncher from Ford Motor Company. While he was instrumental in establishing the Cuban Blockade he didn't have a clue as to how to fight a long protracted limited engagement jungle ground war against a determined enemy on the enemy's home turf.

He was too much a bean counter out of touch with the real world. He forced some disastrous programs on the military that looked good on paper but ended up being expensive failures.

Please cite your rank and tenure as a military strategist in order to validate your otherwise unconfirmed opinion.
