Most cultures in the world have prohibitions against gay sex. Don't want to get all anthropological but group survival depended on procreation. Depended on having warrior sons. A man's wealth was often estimated by the size of his family. Fertility was celebrated. Children were born after a man planted his seed. I think you might see where gay sex was outside of this arena.
