So in 2018 the Unions are no longer exempt from obamacare ..What then ? will we all lose our healthcare ? Are central states Healthcare plans cadillac plans ? There has to be a reason that unions were exempt .It has to be to screw us later. So Ups will be off the hook,we will be taxed heavily or we will have to pay some.Anyone with real knowledge have an idea? Our union boss told us we are not a cadillac plan.If we arent thats fine but then again at 4.5 billion profit a year, why arent we.Like to hear some facts. Thanks

Because Union plans are non-profit which keeps costs lower hence not reaching the cadillac thresholds. Your "union boss" has real knowledge and he gave you proper advice.

The big costs for Obamacare are delayed for the first years to mislead people into accepting it. Then the real nightmares will kick in.

OLDANDGRAY,

Why dont you enlighten all of us about these costs, specifically of course, item by item.

Of course, this is where you exit the conversation.

TOS.

Gotta love how all the big groups that supported Obama (Unions and such) got exemptions. Those that opposed the law are eating it first.

There's already been about 40 unlawful delays to this disgraceful law and each one of them has been for political reasons. To delay the hurt. Everything systematically after elections. Passed the law in '09 yet it barely started until after the 2012 election completely on purpose. Now many requirements have been pushed pass this years mid-terms. And others have been blatantly pushed until 2016. Obama will be comfortably out of office when our whole health care system comes crumbling down.

Better enjoy our plans now. Trust me, they won't last. The Unions have essentially voted for the demise of their generous health care plans. Good one. And it's not just about whatever "plan" we end up with, even if that eventually means single payer. What really suffers is our whole system. Less doctors, less medical equipment, less hospitals/offices, meaning very long wait times. Go check out Canada. Need a routine MRI scan? Better get on a waiting list. Today in the US, you can easily get one same day.

The big problem is: How to make people pay the premiums? It is easy to sign up but not so much to get payment. We haven't heard much about this, but we will.

I still don't think Obamacare will ever see 2018. REPEALED!!! There will be another smoke in mirrors deal

Problem is it's designed to bankrupt insurance companies. 2018 may be too late. Obviously it ain't going anywhere though 2016. Then we would need a Republican President in 2017 along with a Republican Senate. The system may be too damaged to return to any feasible private industry. It's all set up to lead to single payer.

JL,

No one will be able to afford it. So far most who have signed up are ---prisoners, senior citizens and the non workers. The one s it was designed for - the 20 to 35 yr Olds. Want nothing to do with it. This age group were supposed to pay a bulk of it's expenses

I have a 26 year old that signed up. She's not old, incarcerated or unemployed. Responsible maybe.

Bankrupt insurance companies? You haven't been paying attention, bud. Obamacare is the biggest insurance handout in US history.

Just as Bush's Prescription Pill Medicare bill was.

The insurance companies are driving the car, man.

You're losing the shell game, bro.

For now. There's already talks of bailouts coming for insurance companies. Why do you think premiums are doubling and tripling right out of the gate? Only way to meet their costs. It's only going to get worse.

Think about logic for a second. When you mandate that an insurance company start covering pre-existing conditions it renders the "insurance" company a welfare handout entity. It's no longer insurance.

If you ran a car insurance company and the government came in and mandated that you now have to allow customers to sign up after pre-existing damage to their automobiles, what would that mean to your business? Customers could drive around without insurance until they get into an accident and significantly injures a family. Now after the fact, they can go shopping for insurance and the company now has to pay out huge sums as a result of those injuries. How long could you run your company for?

The government has guaranteed to cover any losses by insurance companies so its a no risk money making plan for them.

And yet the law was sold as "deficit neutral", LOL. This monstrosity will add trillions more to our debt. A trillion here, a trillion there... No big deal. It's only our kids and grand kids that will have nothing.
