Odds of transferring after driving for a year and a half?

I've know only one person out here in the west that was able to transfer to their desired location which was Las Vegas.
A guy on my route bought a house for 575k to then quickly demolish it and build a new house at a cost of 300k in a middle class neighborhood. Its unbelievable the price people are paying for homes here in So Cal.

Tell me about it, I'm in the process of selling my condo and buying a house. My 1,000 sq ft 2 bedroom condo is going to be listed for 415k. Now the only houses I can afford are over an hour away from my hub. Houses with in an hour start at 650k. And that's for like a 1200-1300 sq ft old house that needs a full remodel.
