Peak was grandma sending out packages back then. The internet changed that. Sadly, there are still many people that don't have a clue about online shopping.
Sunday would be residentials only and I seriously doubt that they would give you 10 hours worth of residentials and then turn around and give you a 14 hour day on Monday.
Working Sunday is meant to take the edge off of Monday. Are you saying that if you didn't work Sunday that you would have a 24 hour dispatch on Monday?
Perhaps it is you that needs to keep up.
How bad is your Center? Jeez.1. My entire route is rural residential. A Sunday dispatch wont change anything.
2. The last time I worked on a Sunday (in 2013) I brought 200 missed stops back at 8:00 that night. Not exactly " taking the edge off."
3. 12 hours is a light day for me in December. 13 or 14 is the norm. I'm OK with that, but I would prefer not to work 14 hours on Christmas Eve if I can avoid it. By working on Sunday, I can ensure that I wont have 14 DOT hours left on Christmas Eve.
Try to keep up.
This occured on Sunday, December 22 of 2013.I'm sorry, as much as I respect what you have to offer here, I have to call BS on you bringing back 200 missed stops after having worked a 12 hour day.
Let's say you average 10 SPORH. 12 hours puts you at 120 stops. Are you seriously trying to tell us that they sent you out with 320 rural stops expecting you to deliver them all and stay within the HOS rules?
Not bad at all as far as I am concerned. I work 60 a week from Thansgiving thru New Years. Always have, always will. I dont complain about it. It is what it is.How bad is your Center? Jeez.
Where about's is expecting snow? It's darn near 70 here in the Midwest. Kinda wishing for a white Xmas.It appears we might be getting snow a week from Friday.
If it happens that will make it quite interesting.....
Not as bad as oursHow bad is your Center? Jeez.
And the UPS management will blame labor for every part of it.Local news in southern region.. morning news had segment about ups delivery delays due to volume.
What a joke.
I have an idea.. put more drivers on the road.
News flash it ain't 1986. Lots of things have changed.
Peak for me in a large city went from 300 pieces a day to 400 to 500 daily along with losing housecalls that ran 20ish stops pre-peak to 40 or more during peak which is about the same ratio with housecalls today.

Back then we delivered our packages we didn't dump hundreds of pieces at the post office. Believe or not prior to the internet people ordered packages from companies such as LL Bean, Lands End, JC Penny etc. in large quantities.
That's true. I watched the post office deliver on a Sunday across the street from my house. 3 hours later they come back and drop a package off at our house. Different driver. I talked to him for minute. He said they have so many packages just sitting there just waiting to be processed. He said they are 7 days behind on package volume that they had sups working all weekend. My wife needed a gift this weekend for a party and paid extra for shipping. Amazon shipped via FedEx. It is now delayed 2 days. Amazon refunded the shipping costs automatically. I didn't even ask. All of us are having troubles handling the volume....not just us to be sure. Personally, in our area we seem to be on top of things. Warm, dry weather has really helped as well.
In other news, UPS only makes right hand turns.Local news in southern region.. morning news had segment about ups delivery delays due to volume.

Oops, I just made a left 20 minutes ago..In other news, UPS only makes right hand turns.
