Except when they are our ally against ISIS.

we have not had a formal alliance with the kurds. we have shared a similar objective. The word ally has been grossly overused to make the sell out argument.

Since there is no formal alliance there can be no sellout. we have never engaged in an agreement with the kurds that we would protect them when this shared mission was completed.

the sell out argument can only be made when you overstate the relationship we had with the kurds.

Strange how it took Trump to sell the up for massacre. He didn’t even seem to care either.

Oh well. Moscow is happy.

and that is the other talking point.

we have never had influence in syria. Russia has always had influence over Syria. There is nothing in Syria that is worth the risking of american lives

In other words, “When we’re done with you, friend off.”

I guess if you don’t see Russia as a geopolitical adversary, your statement makes sense.

Russia has had influence over the Assads for a long time. I personally think the middle east is too complex for any one superpower to be able to control and influence the area. They have their people we have ours. Others in that area will never be controlled by either one of us.

I’d say Obama underestimated Putin.

It’s clear that Trump is Putin’s bitch.

how clear is that .
Trump verbally reaching out to Putin does not negate that Trump has significantly increased sanctions against Russia.
Trumps support of the Ukraine has been signficantly increased over what Obama did for them.
Trump has publicly challenged the EU developing a cozy relationship with Russia
Trump has publicly berated Nato countries over their military funding and gotten them to pony up more money for nato defense.

none of this Putin wanted and all of it is much more anti-Russia then any previous modern president has done.

if being Putins bitch means you keep kicking Putin in the nuts then you're right Trump is his bitch .

I don't think Turkey was in Syria until the recent invasion. We were definitely allied with anti-Assad forces, including the Kurds.

Turkey a nato force has gone into Syria. Trump wanted out of Syria and Turkey was the only Nato power willing to fill the vacuum. Turkey has a historical regional dislike for the kurds and this gave them the ability to contain the kurds at the same time that they take this responsibility.

AT this point we are not risking American lives and we still have the very powerful and effective political and economic options to contain Turkey.

using our economic power instead of our American lives should make all of us happy.

History says that Russian has had influence over Assad for decades. And when Assad was dropping barrel bombs on his people and using chemical weapons on them, they said nothing.

When Assad was creating a refugee crisis all over the Middle East, Moscow did nothing. Assad’s in a geographical location to cause havoc in Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. And Moscow either doesn’t care or approves of it.

To say Syria is not our concern is naive to reality in the Middle East.

we can be concerned but we cant risk American lives in every skirmish and for every potential threat or wrong in the world.

I see nothing in Syria worth losing American lives.

Turkey used our leaving as a pretense to attack the Kurds. Erdogan is no friend but he does understand that Trump isn't joking with him.

Look at the map dog-boy. Trump’s serving up the Middle East to his master in Moscow.
No, he isn't. But you do illustrate why Europe and Japan and China should take much more responsibility in policing the area. They need Middle East oil much more than we do now.
