Why, because Mantle was the fastest player in baseball? Home to first, fastest time. I call that God given talent. Power? Check out Mantle's 565 ft homer in Washington at Griffith Stadium. Strength (power) and speed, two tools out of five to Mantle. I'll quit, I went back to being a kid, same arguments. Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays are probably the two best baseball players that ever crossed the white lines. Willie Mays finished the journey, an amazing career. Mantle high jacked his career in the late fifties and early sixties with drunken enjoyment?. I respect Willie Mays immensely and honor him and his career. The Mick, I love him and wonder what if.
