The employee holds a lot of power right now. Get yours while you can and let the middle management start looking for work.

Too early to tell yet .. but maybe the pendulum has changed with this pandemic ... what really is an (essential worker) ?

Are these overcompensated executives really worth their salaries... the very concept that one individual like Carol is worth 27,000,000 annually is insane.

She should be the first to admit that she is no more smarter than the average UPS employee, people are born with certain talents and training, advancement if you can call that is an illusion. That was the major problem with the old UPS management system, it attracts borderline sociopaths that advanced by any means possible. I have seen an improvement since they started gutting many of the perks and forcing some of those highly payed executives into an early retirement. I expect a lot of more cutting after this coming contract...

Upper management are over valued and middle management get the short end of the stick. Good low level management will see that putting up with UPS "trade practices" aren't worth the trouble and quit.

The females and minorities have adopted a kind of "it's our turn" mentality. There's actually open discussion about the "quota's" as if they are not ashamed that they are being pushed through and up solely on their sex and race, and really not their abilities.
It's funny and annoying to watch these people work on the simpler tasks (because of their seemingly limited skill set) and not realize that they are 2nd tier performers; but they are the right color or gender (we don't care about Asians, and barely about Latrinos). Their cheerleading and nodding in agreement with everything their bosses say is pathetic.
At least the old school guys had some sort of work ethic; these newbies really just want to get more money and don't see the association with their performance, just their skin or boobs/butch hair cut.

The reality is the agreement will have to be beneficial to both sides in someway. We can make improvements and get wins that are reasonable and advantageous to us.

Much like buying a car everyone has a number in their head and if neither side gets close both sides will walk.
Excellent idea. Considering UPS benefited the last 2 contracts……ITS OUR TURN.

UPS is pushing AC in trucks as a distraction for the real issues. Guys and gals, stop talking about AC and let’s focus on the money. Even if they agree with AC, how long before it breaks and doesn’t get fixed? Get our money, benefits, and retirement right, then we can worry about the other nonsense.

Often working right next to each other doing the same job. How does the Union justify this?
If I’m the guy next to you at $40/hr, have a little respect knowing I was at $15.50? But, I do agree the pay scales need some updating. Even waiting 4 years for top FT wage is an embarrassment to the union.

Knowbody should want a strike
It’s a tool in the negotiators tool box
That’s a 2 sided street. The union has allowed the company free rein on teamsters for too long. Strikes reset everything. If they don’t want a strike, come to the table with the duffel bags.

I started at $8.50/hr unskilled. You’re at double what I was. Took 20 years to get to $40/hr, and part timers are mad at drivers making $40? Say whatttt?
ok whats 15 bucks now verses 8 dollars a million years ago?8 buck back in the day was a pack of marlboros and couple of 32 oz beers and a couple of gallons of gas.don't try to pull that with me.drivers deserve more, you got yours don't hate on the people that keep the building running, that are your union brothers and sisters getting ripped off at every opportunity by the company.

That starting rate for the part timers (8 or 8.5) was stuck in limbo for over 25 years.

Back when I started the entry level part timers made 5.50 which was 2.5 times the minimum wage at the time. 3 bedroom houses were selling at 35,000 and a new car ran about 5,000 ( gas was at 35 cents a gallon), I was renting an one bedroom apartment for 135 a month all utilities included in a major city.

The equivalent today considering the cost of living would be close to 38 bucks an hour for a starting part time employee.
