UPS has cut service to many of the outlying areas in my locale down to 2-3 days a week. This is something they've done before when volume falls off a cliff but will volume return to normal? We'll see. FDX contractors still have to go out there and get ate up by those high mileage low revenue RD carrier routes. About all he can do is to park trucks combine loads then honk off the guy who has a longer day while honking off the guys who get sent home and are often never heard from again.

But but but I was told by most of the people here that UPS would never ever ever do such a thing because they are a top notch employer and they know how to provide such awesome service while paying their employees big wages!

They tried it in the 90s, all bad ideas get recycled.
