That’s the problem if they don’t start managing the company correctly, they will start cutting your benefits and pensions because that’s what small minded managers do is cut instead of innovating! We don’t have work 60 hours a week but we need to work more than we do now! They can rotate the work so everyone gets a breather once in a while but have full trucks is going to sink us!
You can't run longer days when preload can't fill cars up anymore and Orion does not operate on the premise of a brick-loaded car.
You can thank that on the stupid PAS system. Where dispatchers in their stuffy office make the singular decision to put something on the top shelf, the middle, or the floor. Imagine if they just sequenced everything to the middle shelf only and told the loaders 'good luck'. Would a mess ensue? probably the first time yes, but don't think for a minute that these loaders would be worse off making their own decisions, as that is the only way load density can rise without a severe technological overhaul.
Then consider Orion, or it's dynamic "upgrade" it is slated to receive. It operates on the premise that every single package in the car is available to retrieve when deciding what the next stop could be. Dumping the bulk down the middle and doing those stops first simply because they are physically in the way is not something Orion accounts for. If you want longer hours and load density to increase. It would mean scaling back on Orion usage and re-exposing it's predecessor RDO unless Orion goes though a severe technological overhaul
