Correction: We pay no state income or sales tax. That doesn't mean we don't pay the federal income tax, which seems to be what you were implying. Sorry if I misread your post.

Creative? Bush must have gotten his idea from Palin. I got my $600 rebate check!...Hey TIE I never thought Raising taxes was a good Idea if you were a Republicon? Any wonder why Gas prices soared? Cons raised the taxes... I thought you wanted lower taxes and not a rebate check? Isn't that what Obama proposes? To rescind the Bush phony tax cuts to the rich and help the 98% of the working population?

Creative? It must cost a fortune to send out millions of checks back to the overtaxed! What a waste of time, money.....road to nowhere.....The economy suffered... This money could have been used and circulated in the economy many many times over on goods and services!

In an interview with The New Yorker last summer Palin explained that she would make demands of a new gas pipeline "to maximize benefits for Alaskans": "And Alaska we're set up, unlike other states in the union, where it's collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs."


How nice of Palin to maximixe benefits for Alaskans"...This is why she will only be a governor! Greed, these resources are owned by all americans.....Here in the Midwest we grow corn for ethenol products...When the oil runs dry and we have no choice left but to go green we can pay everyone in the Midwest ROYALTIES and rake in as much as we can..

Actually, cities and villages in the Bush (rural Alaska) have been paying extremely high prices for basic necessities (food, fuel for heat, etc.) compared to the rest of the country for quite some time. This year is a little worse than normal though (for obvious reasons), which was part of the rationale behind the so-called "energy rebate".

And if you want to impose royalties on produce to help support the citizens of your state, by all means, do it. Our system has helped us compensate for the lack of industries that are really feasible up here.

If you would like to learn anything in your life HOAKTER you need to know what socialism is not. It is historically incaccurate to claim that Barack Obama is a socialist because he plans to make the federal income tax slightly more progressive. The idea is not one thought up by Karl Marx. In the Wealth of Nations, the bible of modern capitalism, Adam Smith wrote, "It is reasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense not only in proportion to their revenue, but in something more than that proportion." So please, when you talk, try to make some sense and explain not only what you believe but what someone bigger than you believes as well. I dont know everything but it is reasonable to believe if you are making more you should contribute some of that back. We all should contribute in proportion to what we earn! Capitalism will still prevail! According to Marx, pure capitalism contained the seeds of its own destruction.

Pay your fair share and life will treat you very well!
