Members of Congress who did not bow down to the God Emperor were lucky the Trumpees with zip-ties like retired Air Force lieutenant colonel Larry Brock didn't catch them on the Senate floor.

You're right, one retired policeman working as a security guard was killed. Other cops shot survived although one died when wounded partner returning fire accidentally shot him. And dozens of civilians killed. Many more injured. Over 1000 cops injured in the riots. You probably think throwing bricks at cops has no consequences. Then there was $2 billion in damage. But oh no, nothing comparable to what a relative handful of idiots did storming the Capitol building.

Not much different from claiming Trump sought a quid pro quo with the Ukrainian president. Twisting a situation for political gain.

When they crossed the first ring of capital security however understaffed and insufficient it may have been it became a federal offense and whatever they did after crossing that line was simply added to the charges. That's assuming of course that they possessed basic literacy skills sufficient to be able to read the signs telling them about the feces storm coming their way should they cross that line.

They were there to stop a joint session of Congress from counting the electoral votes confirming the election of Joe Biden as the 46th president.

You can try to spin it any way you want or try to minimize it any way you want but the number of people charged with serious federal offenses just keeps growing and a lot of careers in law enforcement and criminal justice will be made if a sizeable number of them are convicted and given lengthy jail sentences .

pro trump supporters stormed through open doors held by the capital police. they must have used jedi mind tricks to get the police to open the door. maybe there is something to that helmet the Light bird is wearing.
