Blue lives matter was always anti-black racist bs. A lot of Americans view certain groups of Americans as inherently violent and criminal due to their ethnic or racial heritage. They view the police as a bulwark that also enacts violence to control those groups. As long as the police are seen to be doing that job, then it's back the blue and all of that stuff, the moment the police or law enforcement isn't doing that job, then its friend the police.
