Yeah, that's right. If it were up to me, I would get rid of the Union for UPS.

The union creates an atmosphere where old guys are taking all the money, hours, and paid vacation time, meanwhile hungry new people are held down.

If we got rid of the union, then job security wouldn't be based on Seniority, but on merit. Something the old geezers hogging all the hours don't want.

Merit for things like pay, hours, and vacation are one of those things that sound good on paper, but break down as soon as things like profit margins and favoritism starts entering the fray, especially once the company gets big enough. Having worked for a call center for sprint that paid you your hourly rate that paycheck based on your metrics, I want nothing to do with merit based consideration for any company of a large enough size, especially ones that answer to shareholders.

Do you realize what would happen if we didn’t have a union ? It would be like fedex split shifts staggered start times lose your job for any reason

You are of these guys do not know what the older employees had to endure through their careers, you may run a few more stops now and the packages are heavier but you never had to drive a stick shift truck day in and day out or have to jump in and out of a package year in and out where the height of the step we’ll was twice as high or have no power steering with an under power engine that could get barely over the hills on a rural route! Young man you have never been harressed so bad that I seen three supervisor ride with one driver for 8 days like I have seen! You have ever been called in the office day in and day out on why you were 15 minutes over! You have never been made to stay out until your 15 hours was up and finished your own work, not like now when they send people to help everyday. There was no snow days or ec’s back in the day, you had to deliver them all! You have only worked for this company for a short period of time, if I were you I would shut my mouth and pay your dues like everyone before you has, in due time your appreciation for seniority will change! So quit your whining and start being a man!

So what exactly is your point?

Yet Dominos stock has us beat by almost $100
The reason for the discrepancy in share price with UPS and FedEX or Dominos for that matter is that UPS pays a nice dividend. Yield is over 3%, pays S0.91 a share. There's really only a handful of companies with a share price and dividend yield that high. So if you look at the bigger picture, every year UPS is returning over $3 billion to shareholders. And there's also more than 3x as many shares of UPS on the market as they are of FedEx.

Thanks for that info. I was wondering how the hell FedEx stock always over twice as much as ours.

So invest in dominos. Work for them. I hear a lot of excuses. You’re not very clear in what your real issue is. You sound like you want to do away with the union and want to be a runner for a better company. What’s your real issue?

Follow all my stuff. Not repeating myself a million times.

I just get irritated with morons. Union reps that are just outa touch.

After they got rid of the bunch of idiots Rome, Sosa, Frank, Dale

My new BA seems to be on it pretty good so far. No real issues. They seem to be doing their job “serving the members” as best they can. In my opinion.

Im sure merit based practices could work... for other careers like office work and such. But definitely not in our line of work

I think merit could maybe work for loaders, or at least bonuses for zero misloads/misload to pcs ratio. It'd be near impossible with drivers since they're variables that they can't control (e.g, traffic/detours/lunch breaks, customers being slow, can't find anybody to sign, driveway shape/conditions). It's not like we're competing with one another to bring more and businesses to using UPS. There's already business development/customer relations positions for that.

It's not just our company either. Pepsi and Dr. Pepper are both valued as twice as much as Coca Cola. One of the reasons also happens to by stock splits which are used by company's when they feel can can't bring in new investors at say $180 a share so they'll give 3 shares to current holders in order to bring the price down to $60 and bring in that new money. I've heard for years that UPS might split its stock but with the market as a whole up so much it would look bad if we cut to $55-60 and then a recession brought the stock down another $15-30. It would force UPS to buyback shares which would be a waste of money.

They can afford to give away $3 Billion a year, but money does not exist for replacing badly worn uniforms?

It's not a giveaway. It's a return on investment. Same as with the interest you earn at a bank from savings. They aren't just holding your money in a box for you. It's how they make loans and cover expenses.
