Texas Loves Obama 2016
From Dallas Morning News:
Why, yes, ’2016: Obama’s America’ performed quite well in Dallas’ movie theaters too
Here and there have been eyebrows-raised notes concerning the surprising success of a (till recently, at least) little-known leans-far-to-the-right documentary titled 2016: Obama’s America, directed by Dinesh D’Souza and based on his 2010 book The Roots of Obama’s Rage.
For those wondering, why, yes, 2016 also did well in Dallas-Fort Worth — so much so that on Friday it was the No. 4-grossing film in the area, then No. 9 on Saturday, then back up to the four spot by late last night.
According to numbers we obtained last night, it did better here than in most major metros, but in DFW, unlike in most cities, it was almost in wide release: You could find it at the AMCs NorthPark and Valley View, the Cinemark 17 on Webb Chapel Road and LBJ, the AmStar (formerly the Grand) off Northwest Highway and Stemmons, and in megaplexes from Frisco to Mesquite, Rockwall to Garland, Grapevine to Grand Prairie.
