In all the compilation of wisdom here you need to leave "should" out of the sentence (#3) and your post won't emulate speculation. I wasn't talking about "overview" editorials, I was talking about vote counts since that was the subject of the day. Only comparing the IBT's breakdown with TDU's numbers. PS/ the credibility of the IBT does not exceed outside sources. Before the first vote we were told by the local BA that "there is no plan B". While we are defaming outside "editorial views" let's try to examine the lies we really have to deal with from inside and TDU wouldn't get as much traction.

I'm not sure why you consider a common factual post a "compilation of wisdom" but I'll bite. Actually my last sentence had more of a speculative angle than sentence #3. Should is more predictive of hypothetical events and refers back to TDU logic which is totally hypothetical. Could or would feels more certain based on history but also is predictive.
In your dissection of words you may have missed the point...the yes vote gained while the no vote lost support. More ballots were returned in large Locals 638 and 344 (and L804) than in the first round, while less ballots were returned in L89, the No vote stronghold. The No Vote campaign, pushed hard by TDU, lost support even in locals that voted no in the majority.

Didn't miss your point. I don't qualify it either because there was a broad spectrum of reasons the vote against the supplement(s) changed and it wasn't just that they all defected. More people that would have voted yes the first time actually voted the second round. Many people in our local all presumed it would pass without their vote the first time and they voted the second time since they found out that their vote counted. It's unknown how many votes came in too late (it was reported that approx 4500 votes arrived late the first time) and others felt the "enhancements" would be guaranteed so they voted for it this time around


TDU wasn't the catalyst in the No vote "movement" (which it wasn't a movement) but we can blame them if you want to.

We, the members that voted to reject the NMA, Central Sup, and riders supported and propagated our beliefs strongly and as much as possible.
We stood united with thousands of members and stewards because we knew this contract was less than what it should have been and contained very damaging language, especially affecting the least compensated workers in our company. "Compilation of wisdom" was sarcasm but not to be meant to be personal. I appologize if it came across that way.
TDU is a non issue.....especially when compared to the IBT who sold us a Trojan Horse.

ITG, we all are passionate about our jobs and futures. We work hard and believe hard too. Not many people like change and especially if it's change administered by people you don't trust. That has as much to do with how our BAs have treated us as how we perceive our IBT's actions in this contract.

The people that voted No did so not as much for personal gain but to maintain levels of compensation (healthcare) in a business that is consistently very hard on your body over time and to support our future full time employees.

All that bring said, I and many other stewards do not like giving in to two very corrupt organizations. One we work for and the other we pay to work against us. Have a good weekend.
