It was land the British partitioned after WW1 from the Ottoman Empire. Not from any Palestinian state.

There was also supposed to be creation of a Jewish state then but they didn't follow through on that.
They tried to establish two separate states before leaving in 1948 but the Muslims wouldn't agree to it.

The Arabs attacked in 1948 but lost. Frequent for land to be lost from wars. Israel even gave some back after the Arabs attacked again in 1967 and 1973. Who has the best claim for owning the land now?

Israel has given up land for peace but too many Arabs refuse any kind of peace settlement.

The fact is for thousands of years land is held if you can hold it. If you're pushed off it in warfare you have to come up with an alternative. The Muslims have had no qualms in their history forcing others off their land but can't handle others doing it to them. As long as Israel is surrounded by Muslims this is never going to end. I know you know this but want to spell it out for some here.
