I watched the last hour of the final episode tonight.
My brother-in-law whom I worshipped was killed in Vietnam during the Tet offensive.
I tend to bury unpleasant events in my life somewhere in the recesses of my mind.
My contempt of the presidency was set in concrete after the absolute botching of the US getting in that war by Kennedy and Johnson and the lying and hiding of the truth.
But that was nothing compared to the Nixon years of the Vietnam war.
Nixon IMO was the most corrupt and the worst President the US ever had.

amazing documentary. ellsberg was very high up, sounds like his boss was kissinger. they lay out a brief US history with vietnam at one point which mentions destroying democracy there. ellsberg says at one point its best if everyone went to jail as in draft dodging, which i agree with.

You know what I find the most disgusting thing about that time ?
How the left rejoiced in removing our troops and totally forgot to care about those people who died because we did .
Dictators took over many countries in that region and millions died ,but the left turned a blind eye to everything .

The Left was and is sympathetic to communism. You've probably heard Putin's biggest disappointment was the break-up of the Soviet Union. I bet many Leftists have that in common with him.

I have to disagree.
Most lefties in the US desire a Socialist Democracy that was common in Europe 20 years ago ... as do many Europeans now.
They were a lot friendlier to the Russians when they were communists. If Europe isn't a Socialist Democracy now how would you characterize it?

Europe is still a Socialist Democracy but trending more towards less handouts.

Southern Europe went off the deep end with handouts and are expecting northern Europe to bail them out. It all sounds great on paper but isn't sustainable. Note that when a million plus refugees recently flooded Europe they didn't stop in cash strapped countries. And who exactly was protesting LBJ and the war? Jane Fonda gave comfort and aid to the enemy. Did Hollywood run her out of town?
