You might get a write up on an observation but it will save your knees in the long run. Watch us old guys deliver sometime, it is all about what does not hurt your body, not what they say is safe or unsafe. Climb out backwards like on a ladder, use straps but don't squeeze them (never once cut my hands on them using an open palm). Carry longs (like rugs) on your shoulder if you have no rotater cuff issues. Don't use the Spock hold to carry boxes or you will end up with worn out painful thumb joints.
Carrying heavy/awkward packages on your shoulder make sense ... except in the UPS world. You will get dinged for doing that on a safety ride because UPS believes its better to carry in your arms with more strain on your back. And yeah, exiting backwards often makes sense .. except to UPS.
