Tiktok needs lots of permissions to work on a phone. It has the ability to spy and transmit data. That might not mean much to you and me, but there are alot of people in positions that do matter. If Bytedance wanted to they could get all kinds of economic and strategic inside information. The possibilities are endless.
That being said I have seen no proof of ByteDance doing this but the potential is there.
Zhang Yiming is the founder of ByteDance and Chinas richest man. That kind of status and wealth doesn't come cheap in a communist country.
