When I was a kid (one time at band camp) we visited cousins in PA and they had an outhouse. I didn't know they were poor, I just knew it was an adventure to use the facilities after dark. Flashlight guiding the way and toads jumping across our path and screams from being frightened by bugs.......a total experience like a Halloween spook house.
I've used a few. Always a fun. Experience.

Often going in the woods is a better option than using the outhouse.
Unless you get poison ivy on your ass like my buddy did.
Plus a few other unnamed parts.
