Ups Freight and ups cartage to merge?

I heard there is a pilot program going on somewhere in NY anybody heard or seen this? They are saying that our Air freight operation and Ups Freight might move into the same building. Anyone heard this ??

They have moved into our terminal in arkansas but the drivers seem to be contract drivers while the office staff are ups employees.

I dont think that will happen for awhile. We have two different contracts, and trying to merge the contracts midway would be very hard to do. Other then that I dont see why they couldnt do that in this area.

ups freight has taking over c s i operations. it started in july 2011

This is nothing new. Freight becomes the cartage agent for supply chain. Many supply chain locations used cartage agents and this keeps everything under the same corporate umbrella. I would assume one day this will mean the demise of Supply Chain only employees but for now it is more of a cartage agreement. I think this has happened in at least 75 servce centers. In some cities this would never work.
