The guy's trolling. He realized he made a terrible mistake, and he doesn't want anyone else to be around to say "I told you so". FYI, only 25000 more died in the US than what was projected for 2020. The tests are unreliable, so we have no idea what the real covid stats are, but It's clear that not that many more people died than was expexted. There's a very valid argument to be made that the government response killed more than the virus.

I think he was being cheeky. Double blind random control tests are the best. In the polio vaccine experiments they had an experimental group, a control group, and a third that got nothing to use as a comparison. Basically, everyone not in either group is still part of the experiment because they should compare the control and experimental group to the numbers among the general public.
