Here's my guess:
-air arrived late
-they marked the whole thing as a mechanical failure in order to reduce late air %
-It will now be smashed under the heavy stuff people decide to order on saturday in trace on an impossibly long air route.

I’m just guessing here but the 2 departure scans from CHI are telling me it missed going out on twilight and went out on night. At the airport, someone tossed an exception on it citing mechanical failure.. unless it’s a ‘critical care’ package, you will not receive that package today (Fri). Hope for tomr or more likely Monday.
