So the deal is what? about $1 million/week for all of the pentagon's shipping needs regardless of volume for the next 5 years. Sounds like a crazy deal. It's a hedge for one side and we won't find out who won until they to renegotiate another deal in 5 years. Interesting to say the least.

Sounds like both UPS and FedEx got contracts from reports I saw today. Seems odd they are both for the same amount though.
Could be the government splitting the business 50/50. It that case, Fedex might be the big winner if the government basically sees the service provided by each as basically equivalent.

Given that one is union and the other not I wonder if the 1997 UPS strike is still fresh on their minds and may have weighed on their decision?
