This has been going on for a good while. As long as the mediation board tells them they have to?
I don't know - you tell me.

How long should they work without a contract?
Absolutely!!! It's a fing joke!!
I agree
I disagree. I just want a fair day's work for a fair day's pay. 130-150 stops/day on most of the resi routes in my center would be fair. The 180 to 220 stops/day UPS is forcing on our drivers is not. 8.5 to 9.5 hours/day would be fair, but UPS insists on 10.5 to 13 hours/day which is not.I agree and disagree. There are lots of things that are different today than back in the day. Fuel prices, DOT laws and regulations, taxes and tons of other things. This isn't a 30 year job anymore and the company needs to take money where it can get it. Ppl on brown cafe want to deliver 50 stops with single boxes under 5 lbs and still be paid $36 an hour with Max benefits etc. You have to pay the bills and that wouldn't do it.
Let themThey took a vote to approve a strike last year. It was overwhelmingly approved. This meant that the negotiations went to mediation. After a year of getting nowhere they are asking to be released from mediation so they can follow thru with the strike.
you know how long it has been dave.. it's time to get them a contract...it's just like what they did with the pilots ...They are working under an extension of the existing contract.
...but UPS insists on 10.5 to 13 hours/day which is not.

I thought ups was barely making any money off of business to home deliveries....so which is it??? You are probably one of the people who use to tout that ups only makes a penny profit off of every ground package... I started hearing that one 25 years ago....
Air volume has grown 10% in average for years.....nice tryUPS does make very little off each b to r packages, but that is where most of the volume growth is coming from.
You think that is ok???We have had local school districts go as long as 5 years under a previous agreement.
I go to many building and see guys rolling back at 9 or 10 all the time...it is being abusedThey do?

My center averages between 3-5 cents profit per package.I thought ups was barely making any money off of business to home deliveries....so which is it??? And the pilots each got a nice 60,000 dollar retro check...let me go shed a tear for themLet them

How much interest did UPS make off of that money? And the pilots each got a nice 60,000 dollar retro check...let me go shed a tear for them
I know you are a little touchy about the pilots since you were close to getting a job with the civic air patrol instead of a ups pilot gig but no need to be hating on those pre-Madonna'sAnd the pilots each got a nice 60,000 dollar retro check...let me go shed a tear for them
