Where is our empire? So we live in the greatest nation on earth and possibly the greatest empire in human history and you think the 4 year presidency is flawed? Let me guess, you want Donny for the rest of his life?

So we are the poor victim here? Why are we in a position to invoke these tariffs if so?
There are what maybe approximately 20 African occurrences? Lay down consistent rail track, open border travel. Electrify….(so sad to say this) the sucker. Let the strings be our strings. The reason I push there is that they are and our window is shrinking. What does this chart prove? That we stopped communist insurgencies? That we fought against Middle East terrorism? African piracy? A lot of this didn't involve troops. No, we aren't perfect. And we have done some stupid things. But overall most of the above was justifiable.
And there are few African countries on there. And China's investment comes with strings attached. I don't know why you're so enamored with Africa but to get it up and going will likely take trillions of dollars and a huge sea change in cultural values.
On the down slope to being just regional power.Where is our empire?
Where is our empire? What countries have we overrun? @MyTripisCut said we were possibly the greatest empire in human history. We may be the strongest country in human history but where are all these lands we conquered? Our thing has always been about growing markets. Economic markets. And preserving those markets against systems that don't work. You want the greatest empire in history? Has to be the British Empire. But they committed troops all over the world to force other countries to kneel and submit to local British rule. We had a taste of that in the Philippines but in the end were pretty benign. Hawaii too. But where are the dozens of countries that made up our empire like the British? Or the French, Dutch, Italians, Mongols, Romans, Germans, Japanese, Incas, etc?On the down slope to being just regional power.
How many African countries are there? How many occurrences happened multiple times in one country? It's not our place to open their borders. It's up to the Africans to work out their differences. It's not up to us to electrify the whole continent. The Africans have natural resources. Let them use their proceeds to build infrastructure. The problem we have, proven time and again, is when moving massive amounts of money around the sheer amount of corruption surrounding that money bleeds off unacceptable amounts. It's time we stop taking it in the shorts. There are what maybe approximately 20 African occurrences? Lay down consistent rail track, open border travel. Electrify….(so sad to say this) the sucker. But you cited countries who weren't about dollarization. You put blame on us in Africa when it wasn't us who colonized them. And the major powers decided on the dollar as the reserve currency because their own economies were in shambles after WWII. In return we got the privilege of being the world's policeman. And much of the last 50 years has seen a steady decline in our standard of living. So what a magnificent empire we are!!Our empire is dollarization but its dwindling somewhat. are everywhere.
Us and euro nations are to blame. Amazingly I believe Russia was not but I would have to check. We took advantage like anyone would. "During American colonial rule in the Philippines, it's estimated that over 200,000 Filipino civilians died, primarily from famine, disease, and violence related to the Philippine-American War."We had a taste of that in the Philippines but in the end were pretty benign.
Had a friend just come back from there on Saturday. He definitely enjoyed himself."During American colonial rule in the Philippines, it's estimated that over 200,000 Filipino civilians died, primarily from famine, disease, and violence related to the Philippine-American War."
Benign? I don't think that word means what you think it does
When was the Philippine-American war? Shortly after the Spanish-American War. We were there until late 40's plus two military bases until 1992. We built infrastructure and schools throughout the islands. The Filipinos fought with us against the Japanese. We've had good relations with them through most of our mutual history. So benign is a pretty good description."During American colonial rule in the Philippines, it's estimated that over 200,000 Filipino civilians died, primarily from famine, disease, and violence related to the Philippine-American War."

Of course we do. And who is paying for them? Our "empire" isn't. I've already pointed out, and you obviously weren't paying attention, that part of our dollar becoming the reserve currency, and our becoming one of the two superpowers in the world in the 50's, was we keep sea lanes open for commerce. We aren't out there keeping our boot on everyone's neck. It's an odd love affair you have with the U.S. if you think we're the world's bully. So you’re saying we don’t have military bases and troops stationed all over the planet?
Let me ask, when you’re not looking at naked pictures or Donny, have you ever seen an aircraft carrier? They are these massive floating, mobile air bases that we can and have used to provide security and promote our way of doing business all over the world.
Our empire since the 1950’s has been controlling the oceans and mainly the skin with our military might. Sorry you think Empires have to be expansionist in land mass. We essentially have garrisons all over the planet.
And just for clarity, I’m ok with this, I love the United States, and don’t care if this is where our tax dollars mainly go.
