VCD question

I'm currently working as a pre-loader/air driver. I've been doing this since they laid me off from driving after peak. I was told they will be using me as a vacation cover driver after Memorial Day. I heard that summer time is considered a free period like peak season (Oct 15-Jan 15). My question is will the days I drive this summer count towards making book? And do I have a legitimate shot to go full-time this year?
