To vote in Mexico every eligible Mexican citizen has to have a tamper proof photo ID card with a thumbprint and an embossed hologram .
All citizen are required to personally enroll and show proof of birth or citizenship .
All applicants are required to personally return to collect their voting credentials .

Why can't we do this without being called racists ?

Because that's unreasonable despite the fact that anyone over the age of 14 is pretty much has some form of photo id even if it's just for going to school. . .

There must be 20 or more scenarios where an ID is needed......receiving welfare is one........ Since it's the poor people that conservatives are accused of disenfranchising.....none of those poor had to show ID to get welfare of some kind ??? OR none of those poor people are on welfare ??? I realize its hard to understand the scope of issues when you spend your time watching a faux news broadcast and reading right wing rags with exaggerations in it, but when it comes to having an ID to vote....

YOU ONLY NEED AN I.D. TO REGISTER.

When you REGISTER, your right to vote is guaranteed. If you meet the requirements during registration, why would you need to show ID at the polls?

Do you think there is an army of people masquerading as other people at the polls?

So far, the only case where I have heard about someone voting for someone else who was dead, was a republican in arizona.

ID is to prove you are the person that is registered when you try to vote. Trying to confirm the registration is a valid, legal (and living) voter is another issue. It is voter suppression to bar dead people from voting but since they overwhelmingly vote Democratic its a no brainer why Democrats oppose it.

Wisconsin’s attorney general, J.B. Van Hollen, has already announced he will appeal the decision to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Given that the Seventh Circuit previously upheld Indiana’s almost identical law, as did the U.S. Supreme Court, this will hopefully be a short-lived win for the opponents of election integrity and common sense reform in Wisconsin.
