Weekly Reminder: The economy is great, inflation is fake and gas is cheap.

I was told by MAGA we'd be in deep recession by now.
all debts are paid eventually; either we get financially repressed for the next few decades or something breaks and we enter a depression

this has nothing to do with MAGA or Biden, this is a uniparty issue smoldering since 1971, 1913, 2001, 2003, literally pick whatever year you want

I’m in the markets for the long term. I don’t think the sky is falling.

And the proximate cause would be…?
easy answer is American imperialism debts coming due

longer answer you could point a lot of fingers, depends how far back you wanna look but I would say the CIA and Fed are the two most responsible; ultimately you can't wage endless destabilizing wars without both of them

More positive economic numbers. Inflation at 2.9% and the rolling 3-6 month percentage is below 1.5%. The Fed is going to have some important decisions to make during an election year.

It’s pretty damn good news. I’d say they’ll keep rates where they are for longer.
The market has priced in a few cuts (+- 1.5%) for 2024 and will be pretty upset if the Fed doesn't follow through. I believe March is off the table, but after that they better move if the data continues to improve. IMO

If things continue on the GDP/inflation front I could see the Fed cutting by no more than 75 basis points.

Sure hope they keep the politics out of it...still going to see a lot of backbiting from both sides if it turns against their agendas.

friend around and find out. The properties in question were never meant to be payed down or off. These properties are refinanced every few years and their equity is used to invest in more. Notes are written as interest only payments with the ultimate goal of building a huge property portfolio. Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul only to use Paul to borrow from Peter.

yes that's their problem, too much property bought on low interest debt and now the interest rates aren't low

what happens when a few big whales can't make their payments? what happens do their banks? more money printing and bailouts?

No. They file charter 11 and start again with new banks.
