Damn you quick draw McGraw.

I could hit res/com on a business saver and achieve the same results. It wouldn't make it right.

2nd day AMs have always been 10:30 commit in my neck of the woods. Commercial or residential.

I'd urge everyone to read this thread with caution. Changing a commit time in your board, regardless of any post or link found here can earn you and your steward a sit down.

Don't put yourself in a situation where you think, "I wish I hadn't done that."

No it can't because they don't have a commit. It's no different than hitting resi/comm for a resi saver.

The only way it could possibly show up
Late is if the driver gets a signature and screws up by not hitting residential afterwards.

If it's delivered before midnight it's not late. There has never been a time commit on 2DayAM residential parcels.

I'll say this...

In the 10 years I've spent full time and seven years I've been a member of this forum I've learned a few things.

We may complain a lot about the same things but our situations vary from center to center.

Brownslave may feel like I'm jealous of his ways. He doesn't work in my center or, for my manager. I certainly wouldn't be jealous if, I saw him escorted to the guard house and his employee ID surrendered over 2DA semantics.

Work as directed. Nothing posted on this site will save your ass (your family's ass) should you choose to follow advice you find here.

Yes I am Ok, I just think UPS should tell customers this before they pay for delivery by 1200 or whatever time, that it wont be there and it did not.
If you try and ship on the website it says the time commit on there. They aren't hiding. But they aren't advertising it either. Why would they advertise "Delivery by 1030! Unless you live in a rural area in that case we get it to you by the end of the day!" For a large majority of our customers they will get it by 1030. It's just like with anything. If you live in a rural area you can't expect the same comforts of the city.

The DIAD does not have the ability to distinguish between residential and commercial stops. When the driver goes through EDD and designates air stops as resi or comm he is clarifying the commit time, not changing it.

Whenever I show a new driver how to do this I always caution them to make sure that they deliver any commercials stops with a 1500 commit on time.

Up until I read this I also thought 2 DA AM residential had a 10:30 commit.

how about you just approach your center manager or sup with a print out of the website and ask for clarification? Perhaps some how your center missed the memo.

I agree though, heading into work with the intent of doing something a certain way because you read it here is very nearly the dumbest thing you could do at ups.

Ranks right under applying for mgt!

nowhere special
I never got many 2nd Day AM's and they were always to businesses with 10:30 commits. Usually those same companies also got NDA so wasn't a big deal other than an occasional extra hassle.

Ask for a refund?
No I don"t want a refund. But I did learn from a bunch of you. Thanks for the edification. Never too old to learn.

Never knew about the relaxed times, seems like that would be something we would learn at work............Until last night, near city was 1030, rural was 1200. 2da am was 1030. Whole new world.

I will continue to deliver all 2day AMs by 10:30. I have 10:30 commits 60 miles from the Center and noon commits 40 miles away. All goes by zip code.

since I've gotten beaten up a little bit on this one. I've got a scenario for everyone.

You get a new center manager who is all about the numbers. He notices you were an hour over yesterday. After looking at your day he realizes you broke 15 miles for a 2am resi that doesn't have a commit. He fires you for stealing time...

Yup, I get it.
I will find out Monday from my center manager the answer at my center, and I will post it.

Um either this thread was split from another, some early posts were deleted, the ignore list has started working on the mobile app or I'm losing my mind because i read the first page and nothing makes sense.

Guess It depends what part of the country you are In. All 2nd day A.M.s hav a 10.30 commit .residential or commercial, atleast here they do. May be different in extended centers.

Delivery on the second business day by 10:30 a.m. or 12:00 noon to most commercial destinations. Not available to residential destinations. This is from the UPS website. There is no commit for residential not even where you are. Why would there be, it's a commercial service.
