What Part-Timers will get.

You’re a fool if you think part timers shouldn’t get a respectable hourly wage just because they don’t hit 40 hours every week. No one said the pay check should be the exact same amount as someone who’s full time. During peak everyone in the building is working 50-60 hours a week regardless of being ft or pt so get off your high horse

Actually you're a fool if you dissect all points and focus only one a single aspect of an issue.
Get off your low mule.

Pay was what was just being discussed and it’s a main issue anyway, not some minor aspect. And I was referring to whoever it was acting like PTers don’t matter, idk if you fall in that category or were speaking generally

The issue is/was pay and benefits.
Minimum wage is a "respectable hourly wage" for a PT position. Most PT positions do not include the fantastic benefit package that UPS provides.
If you owned a business or had some training in Business Finance you'd understand.
Not to mention, UPS created PT positions to be what they are, not what the employees wish them to be.

The hourly rate for part-timers has not kept up with the full-timers with that be said, they did not realize how much the benefit package is worth

On the other hand the full-timers do not realize how much are benefit packages worth

I doubt that the PT pay scale is/was ever intended to be in step with the FT progression.
UPS wanted to attract young people in transition to their PT ranks.

Do you PTer's get health benefits for their families or just themselves?

Now is not the time to spew this anti union garbage.

It's a mix on who wants the benefits.
But the bigger question is are they going to give pension contributions to new part-timers

Many of them do not stay here that long and do not have a time of invested so all that money disappears

Most FT positions do not include the fantastic benefit package that UPS provides either but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have it on top of a respectable pay, nor do most part time jobs pay union dues. If you spoke to people outside of this forum you’d understand. And no, UPS created PT positions the same reason they have FT positions, because they need them. Hence the Union works for them both. Idk how great you think anyones “fantastic benefits package” would be if you cut out all the part timers union dues and funding, but your so quickly to act like the PTers are the lucky ones to also have benefits, while the Fters “deserve” it. You’re just saying a bunch of nonsense to tell you the truth

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

Most companies aren’t as profitable as UPS but the pie is only so big. And the company needs capital to grow and maintain its position, not to mention the fleet. That being said, without the union you wouldn’t have what you have now. Dues are necessary and worth it for what is provided by them.

FTers deserve benefits. PTers are part time employees.
“Deserve”??
Drop the emotion and imagine running a business.
